On the evening ofNovember22, 2022 (GMT+8),the Forum on Cases of Business Model Innovation in the Context of Digital Economy, co-organized by the College ofEconomyof our university and MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) was successfully held online and offline. Liu Shouying, Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the School of Economics, Renmin University of China,Dr.Shen Huaxia from theCollegeof Business and Economics,Shanghai Business School,and Manilat Kim Bong-shin, Director of the Department of Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Communications of Laos, made keynote speeches respectively.Associate Professor Zhang Qichen, Vice Dean of the College of Business and Economics of SBS presided over the forum. Participants of theSeminar on Business Model Innovation for Developing Countriesorganized byMOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai)attended the forum online.
In the era ofthedigital economy, enterprises have to use digital technology to transform and upgrade traditional industries, deeply integrate digital technology with traditional industries, and rapidly promote the formation of digital business models. As the Internet and digital economy continue to develop, business models are changing. This forum takes the opportunityofholdingSeminar on Business Model Innovation for Developing Countries, focusing on business model innovation in the context of the digital economy, sharing casesandbuilding a platform for exchange and cooperation between China and developing countries, exchanging experience with each other,and promoting common development.
Liu Shouying spoke on "The impact of the digital economy on consumption and business models". He analyzed the impact from various aspects such as consumption model, digital model and consumer welfare, and business model, and introduced the application of digital technology in industrial digitization and the impact of digital technology on social welfare. He believes that the digital economy has provided consumers with a large number of free products and services, increasing consumer welfare, and the application of digital technology has strongly promoted the process of digital industrialization and industrial digitization in China.
Shen Huaxia introduced a new retail business model in China under the digital economy with the case of "Xiaomi's innovation strategy". He contrasted Xiaomi's online and offline business model with the traditional business model, and commented that Xiaomi builds a product matrix through high, medium and low-frequency needs, and drives high frequency from low frequency, and selects products based on the data deposited online, fully exploiting the value of data assets.
Manilat Kim Bong-shinfrom Laos took the policy and development plan of Laos communication technology as an example, and introduced the functions and roles of the Ministry of Communication Technology of Laos in detail. The concept of digital economy was introduced through a specific case of e-commerce platform in Laos, and the development trend of e-commerce platform and digital economy was analyzed and discussed with the experts and participants.
Zhang Qichen made a concluding speech at the end. He pointed out that the world is currently experiencing a "digital revolution" and all countries will be affected by it. The future digital economy is not only a challenge for developing countries, but also an excellent opportunity for them to achieve cornering overtaking. Therefore, all countries should seize this opportunity. In this context, he believes that this forum will promote broader cooperation and exploration of business models between China and other developing countries.
