On the evening of November 25, Beijing time, the 62nd lecture ofSBSForum was held online and offline by theMOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai)in cooperation with the Research Office, the College of Business Administration and the College of Business and Economics. FRANCISCO LUIZ DOS SANTOS, a participant of our university’s International Business OfficialsSeminar, former President of the Education Commission of Recife, and Professor at the Federal University of Agriculture in Pernambuco, Brazil, gave a lecture on "The Digital Smell Market: Internet, Electronic Nose and Scent TV". Nearly 100 past participants of the International Business Officials Seminar, teachers and students from the College of Business Administration, College of Business and Economics and College of Business Information listened to the lecture online. Focusing on the theme of digital smell market, Prof. Francisco introduced the bionic principle of electronic nose from the biological point of view of smell, extended the topic to the odor signal and digital fingerprint, explored some odor-related technologies and their possibilities in electronic media, and discussed the application and market prospect of electronic nose as a detection technology.
Prof. Francisco indicated that chemical molecules with different vibration frequencies affect human olfaction, so with the help of smell wheel technology, an artificial electronic nose can distinguish subtle smell differences. After World War II, ithas been concerned by countries and widely used in the military, oil exploration, anti-terrorism, anti-smuggling and other fields, especially by the United States, Japan and other developed countries. After 1995, with the reduction of technology costs, it gradually expanded to household appliances, advertising media and other fields.
