Smooth and Circulated Cooperation & Joint Construction and Development of the Belt and Road –Successful Closing of the Seminar on International Logistics and Multimodal Transport

In the afternoon of June 21, 2023, the closing ceremonyfor the Seminar on International Logistics and Multimodal Transport hosted by Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) washeld online. Mr. Chen Wei (Executive Vice Dean of the International Education CollegeinShanghaiBusinessSchooland Vice Director of the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials) and Professor Wang Chuanxu from Shanghai Maritime University (serving as the representative of experts) delivered speeches at the ceremony.

Chinatakesthe 10thanniversary of the Belt and Road initiative as an opportunity to further deepen South-South cooperation, actively supportsother developing countries in implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and contributesChinese wisdom and solutions to the economic and social development of other countries. As the largest developing country in the world, China always adheres to the concept of peaceful development and mutual benefit and win-win situation, and upholds the principle of “teaching others to fish” to train all kinds of talents for extensive developing countries, and, through sharing Chinese experience, wisdom and solutions, helps other developing countries enhance their independent development capacity and promote common development and prosperity.

The Seminar received positive feedback from the fellow participants. “We firmly believe that the objective of the seminar was duly accomplished as above all we have witnessed the finest recipes with respect to innovative infrastructural development and the magnificent success story with regards to logistics and multimodal transportation established here.”, said the representative of the fellow participants, Mr. VED BUSHANCOOMAR DOMA (Port Civil Engineer from Mauritius Ports Authority) at the closing ceremony. He especially expressed his gratitude to the organizer for the careful organization and thoughtful arrangements.

For international logistics, the Belt and Road initiative is being leveraged to open up major corridors and create a better development environment, while multimodal transport promotes the convenience of international trade by integrating different modes of transport. The combination of these two boosts the interconnection and sustainable development of the global economy. “Today, China with obvious location trends, broad market prospects and solid industrial foundation is connected to the world through all corridors, and is integrating and embracing the world in a more proactive and open manner.” Mr. Chen Wei expressed his expectation that the fellow participants would bring the knowledge gained during the Seminar back home to promote the development of the logistics industry in their countries.

The 21-day Seminar on International Logistics and Multimodal Transport included 34 participants from 10 countries, including Azerbaijan, Djibouti, Ghana, Laos, Lesotho, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
