Smooth Opening for the Seminar on Management of SMEs for Portuguese-Speaking Countries

On September 7, 2023 (Beijing Time), the opening ceremony for the Seminar on Management of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for Portuguese-Speaking Countries hosted by Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) was held smoothly. Mr. Chen Wei, Vice Executive Dean of International Education College and Vice Director of MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), and Mr. Zhangpeng, the expert representative and Director of Yangtze River Delta Talent Cultivation and Exchange Guidance Service Center, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

In the context of today’s global economic integration, China and Portuguese-speaking countries have been facing similar opportunities and challenges, and shall stand together, help each other and go forward hand in hand, so as to inject more positive energy for the joint implementation of the Global Development Initiative and for advancing the construction of thecommunity of asharedfuture formankind. The organization of this Seminar is a pragmatic move to implement the foreign commitments made by China’s leaders, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and promote common development.

Speech by Mr. Chen Wei

Mr. Chen Wei suggested that SMEs, which link innumerable homes, are an important force in promoting innovation, boosting employment and improving people’s livelihoods. China has attached great importance to the development of SMEs, and since the reform and opening up, has gradually established and continuously improved the socialist market economic system, leading to the continuous development of the market system and vigorous growing of various market entities. It is hoped that through this Seminar, the fellow participants will learn about China’s characteristic cases, accumulated experience in SME management, develop their ideas, and put forward suggestions for development in combination with their own national conditions.

Speech by Mr. Zhang Peng

Mr. Zhang Peng expressed that the Seminar will help fellow participants understand the development experience and achievements of China’s reform and opening up as well as SME management through professional services and lectures, and allow them to experience the human culture of China and Shanghai through diversified ways. As a lecturing expert, he will fully cooperate with the organization and implementation of the Seminar, hoping that it will become a bridge to enhance the friendship between people from different countries and promote the exchange and cooperation between them.

Speech by the Representative of the Participants

Ms. ELSA DIONISIA DA SILVA MATUSSE MATLHOMBE, Senior Technical Specialist from Ministry of Industry and Trade of Mozambique, served as the representative of the fellow participants, and expressed that there were about 50,000 SMEs in Mozambique, which have played a crucial role in sustaining the country’s economic development. She therefore appreciates the opportunity to participate in this Seminar and to learn from China’s experience in SME management.
