In the afternoon of September 19, 2023, the closing ceremony for the Seminar on Railway Planning and Construction for Officials from Russian-Speaking Countries hosted by Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) of Shanghai Business School (SBS) were smoothly held in Room 112, Xuhui Campus, withMr.Huangfeng (deputy director of Lifelong Education Department of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission), Mr. Chen Wei (Executive Vice Dean of the International Education College) and Ms. Meng Yanli (head of the Technology Department of the Overseas Division of China Railway Shanghai Design Institute Group Corporation Limited) delivering speeches at the ceremony.
Mr. Chen Wei indicated that this Seminar is a successful exchange and exploration between China and Russian-speaking countries in strengthening international cooperation in the field of railways, as well as a vivid case of China’s promotion of international development cooperation and practicing the development concept of building a Community of a Shared Future for Mankind. He sincerely hoped that the fellow participants could promote the continuous development of friendly and cooperative relations between China and Russian-speaking countries, and become friendly ambassadors to convey friendship and promote cooperation.
Ms. Meng Yanli pointed out that this year marks the 10thanniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.Overthe past decade, China has signed more than 200 cooperation documents with 151 countries and 32 international organizations to jointly build the Belt and Road. As an in-depth participant and practitioner of this Seminar, China Railway Shanghai Design Institute Group Corporation Limited has witnessed this magnificent journey. Besides, she said that the Institute is very happy to share its practical experience with friends, and expects joint efforts to write a new chapter of common development in the next decade.
On behalf of all the fellow participants, Mr. Ryskulbek Zhumabaev, Deputy Director of the State Railway Administration of Kyrgyzstan, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the SBSTraining Base for the Seminar arrangements. He said that it was thanks to the careful organization of the Base that the fellow participants were able to concentrate on their studies and share their experiences actively. He hoped to further strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side and make concerted efforts to accelerate the promotion and construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway project.
Mr. Huang Feng said that China, as the world’s largest developing country, regards Russian-speaking countries as important partners, and looks forward to more exchanges and cooperation with Russian-speaking countries in the areas of economy, trade, education and others. With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, China and Russian-speaking countries have continuously expanded the space in the railway cooperation. He hopes that through this Seminar, officials from various countries can further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and jointly promote the development of the railway industry.
The 14-day Seminar included 26 participants from Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
