On June 19th, the opening ceremony for the Seminar on Human Resource Management for Tanzania was inaugurated successfully. Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and executed by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) at Shanghai Business School, the event commenced smoothly. Chen Wei, Executive Vice Dean of the College of International Education at SBS and Deputy Director of the MOFCOM Training Base, along with Liu Lei, Executive Vice President of the China Human Resource Management Research Association, graced the ceremony with their presence and provided keynote addresses.
In 2024, China and Tanzania celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations. Since the establishment of their ties, both two countries have seen a continuous strengthening of political trust and have embarked on fruitful practical cooperation in multiple sectors. This collaboration has delivered tangible benefits to their peoples, setting a standard for South-South cooperation. In recent years, China and Tanzania have enriched the content of their comprehensive strategic partnership, striving together to turn the shared aspirations for national rejuvenation and the grand vision of the Belt and Road Initiative into reality. This joint endeavor is contributing significantly to the construction of a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.
Chen Wei emphasized that the China-Tanzania relationship has withstood the tests of international vicissitudes and has been increasingly resilient. Guided by the vision of fostering a community with a shared future for humanity, this seminar is designed to offer Tanzanian participants an in-depth learning platform about the development of China’s human resource management. It aims to deepen collaboration and understanding in relevant field between the two countries, cultivating high-quality professionals. Furthermore, it opens opportunities for complementary advantages and open development, offering fresh prospects for the well-being and development of the people in both countries.
Liu Lei remarked that over the past 60 years, the cultural bonds between China and Tanzania have become increasingly robust. The establishment of China's first cultural center in East Africa, located in Tanzania, along with the growing number of Chinese universities offering Swahili language courses, demonstrates a commitment to nurturing talent for Tanzania's development and the enhancement of Sina-Tanzania cooperation. Liu Lei considers the current seminar a successful collaboration between the two nations. He also expressed his desire for profound exchanges with Tanzanian professionals on all facets of public sector human resource management during the seminar, with the goal of driving positive improvements in the public management capabilities of both countries.
Edith Martin Rwiza, Director of the Human Resources Department of the Tanzanian Civil Service Bureau and participant representative, acknowledged the shortage of human resources in Tanzania’s public services. She stated that the government is undertaking a series of reforms aimed at bridging this gap up and enhancing the management level of public services. Rwiza expressed her deep appreciation for the seminar, which she sees as a reflection of China's support for capacity building among Tanzanian HR professionals and a step towards achieving these objectives.
The 14-day seminar will engage 21 participants from 16 Tanzanian government agencies, including the Civil Service Bureau, Water Authority, Immigration Department, and Courts. As part of the curriculum, participants will undertake a study tour to Huangshan City in Anhui Province.
