On the afternoon of August 24, 2021 (GMT+8), the closing ceremony for "Seminar on Management of International Engineering Projects for Sri Lanka " hosted by Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) was held online. Mr. Fang Meng from Division of Foreign Economic Cooperation of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Mr. Yuan Xiao, Deputy Director of Group Operation Department of East China Construction Group Co., Ltd and Ms. Dai Ying, Vice Dean of the College of International Education of our university attended the ceremony.

Ms.Dai Ying pointed out that this Seminar is not only a new starting point for China and Sri Lanka to learn from each other in the field of engineering project management, but also a link for the continuous warming relationship between two countries. Through the 14 days of online learning, all the participants gained professional knowledge from multiple aspects, had a deep understanding of China's multiculturalism and a comprehensive understanding of China, which is also a developing country. She hopes that the participants can bring back the knowledge and experience gained during the Seminar and promote the improvement of the domestic engineering project management level.

Mr. Fang Meng said that engineering projects have always been a key area of China's foreign investment and cooperation. China actively participates in global engineering project cooperation and takes actions to provide services to developing countries. China supports and encourages Chinese companies to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation in this field to share our technology and experience with Sri Lanka. The Seminar shared China’s ideas and practices from multiple perspectives, and explored new ideas and new methods for solving common problems in engineering project management. Besides, it is a successful exchange and exploration between China and Sri Lanka in advancing the development of engineering project management and strengthening international cooperation.

Mr. Yuan Xiao said that the epidemic has brought huge challenges to the social foundation, economic structure and lifestyle of all countries. But at the same time, it has also promoted progress in technological innovation. As engineers and architects, we are born with the mission of building a better living environment. Therefore, in the face of unknown challenges, we must give full play to our strengths, learn from each other, draw knowledge and experience from multiple cultures, and build a better future in a creative way.

Mr. Silva Wayland Khwawa Sam Sajiwa Chandana, Chief Assistant of Operation and Maintenance of Sri Lanka Apartment Management Agency, spoke highly of this Seminar at the closing ceremony. He believes that although the epidemic prevented people from all over the world from traveling, it can't stop the friendship between each other. Under the online training mode,thanks to the organizer and experts for the explanation, the participants learned from each other, make progress together, and continued to accumulate knowledge and experience in this field. After the Seminar, he feels confidence that China and Sri Lanka will continue to carry out fruitful cooperation in the future.
This Seminar lasts for 14 days. During the training period, the participants conducted exchanges and discussions with Chinese experts and scholars on topics such as sustainable development of project management, project cost progress quality management, and project safety quality supervision and management. We also visited Huadong Construction Group and Yiwu West Railway Logistics Base in a new cloud form.
