On the morning of September 9, 2021(GMT+8), the Opening Ceremony for " Seminar on Financial Management in Latin America, Caribbean Countries and South Pacific Region " hosted by Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) was held online. Ms. Liu Beimin, Researcher with Division of Foreign Economic Cooperation of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and Mr. Dai Ying, Vice Dean of the College of International Education of our university attended the opening ceremony.

Ms. Liu Beimin pointed out that although China is far away from Latin America, Caribbean Countries and South Pacific Region, our friendship has a long history. Since the proposal to build a China-Latin America community with a shared future, the cooperation has developed vigorously in various fields, forming a comprehensive, multi-level and three-dimensional cooperation pattern, which means a further deepened integration of interests between China and Latin America. Since the Covid-19 epidemic, China and Latin America have united and assisted each other to fight against the epidemic, overcome difficulties and seek common development under the concept of a community of shared future between China and Latin America. She sincerely hopes that this Seminar can continue to work hard to promote the building of a China-Latin America community with a shared future.

Ms.Dai Ying said that Shanghai, as the central node of the domestic cycle and the strategic link between the domestic and international cycle, has always been at the forefront of reform, development and innovation in various industries and fields with the strong support of national and local finances. Our university is a Shanghai-affiliated higher education institution with a long history of 71 years, during these years, we have cultivated tens of thousands of high-quality business talents. Holding seminars through the online mode is an innovation and breakthrough in our training work. Therefore, she hopes that all participants can use this Seminar as a platform to share the advanced experience accumulated in financial management, discuss the bottlenecks and problems encountered in this field, and jointly cope with the new environment and new challenges.

Ms. Grunal Espinoza Raquel, consultant and office director of the Ecuadorian Andean Parliament, delivered a speech on behalf of all the participants. She believes that China is like a sleeping lion and now his voice has spread all over the world. Since 2018, China has become the second largest trading partner in Latin America. Besides, the “Belt and Road” initiative has provided numerous opportunities for Chinese and Latin American companies and governments. She thanked the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and Shanghai Business School for the preparations for this Seminar. She said that the participants will definitely maintain a proactive attitude during the two-week training period and earnestly learn from China's financial management experience.

The Seminar will last for 14 days and 90 officials from 4 countries including Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela will participate in the training.
