On the morning of October 25, 2021(GMT+8), the Closing Ceremony for "Seminar on Infrastructure Construction for Latin American Countries" hosted by Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) was held online. Mr. Chen Wei, Executive Vice Dean of the College of International Education of our university, and Ms. Zhang Wen, Deputy Director of the Training Base Project Department attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

Chen Wei pointed out that infrastructure is the lifeline of the national economy, it supports the normal operation of the social economy and provides public service facilities for social production and residents' lives, besides, it plays an important role in improving the socio-economic development level and competitiveness. He hopes that the participants can use this Seminar as a new starting point to continuously promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and Latin American countries in this field, and jointly explore new ways and methods for the win-win cooperation under the background of global economic integration, so as to make positive contributions to the sustainable economic and social development of China and Latin American countries.
Mr. Nestor Nerio Quintana,an infrastructure expert from the Ministry of Urban, Land, Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Colombia, delivered a speech on behalf of all the participants. He said that this Seminar brought together nearly a hundred participants from Latin America. He is very grateful to the Ministry of Commerce of China and Shanghai Business School because of this training opportunity.By learning from China’s experience and combining with the local conditions in Latin America, the dream of sustainable development can finally be realized.

The Seminar lasts for 14 days and 102 officials from 7 countries including Paraguay, Panama, Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru participated in the training. Our university invited experts and scholars from Shanghai Construction Engineering Group Corporation, Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Institute, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute, Tongji University, Shanghai Maritime University and other related fields. They shared with the participants practical experience of China on topics such as Shanghai’s overall urban planning and implementation, urban road planning, green construction technology, rail transit planning ideas and concepts, port and shipping engineering management and research, etc.
