Seminar on Tourism Recovery Policies in the Context of the Pandemic for Latin American, Caribbean and South Pacific Countries Completed Successfully

On the morning of July 29, 2022 (GMT+8), the closing ceremony for “Seminar on Tourism Recovery Policies in the Context of the Pandemic for Latin American, Caribbean and South Pacific Countries” hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) were held online. Dai Yin, vice dean of International Education College of Shanghai Business School attended the ceremony and delivered speech. On behalf of the teaching experts, Fu Quansheng, vice dean of the Hotel Management College of SBS, also delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Tourism is an important channel for different countries and cultures to exchange and learn from each other, an effective means to develop the economy and increase employment, and an important industry to improve people's living standards.The diversity of human civilizations endows the world with different colors. Through tourism, people can increase their knowledge, exchange cultures and enhance friendships. However, the COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the world has lasted for more than two years, and the tourism industry has suffered a huge impact. The Chinese government has also made active explorations in coordinating the prevention and control of the pandemic and the recovery and development of the tourism industry. By organizing this seminar, our university shared China's successful experience in promoting tourism recovery under the pandemic, so as to provide a example for the participating countries and enhance the policy level of the trained countries in promoting tourism recovery.

Speech by expert representative, Fu Quansheng

The seminar invited experts and scholars from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai University of Engineering Science, China Tourism Academy of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Shanghai Municipal Tourism Association, Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and other units to discuss topics such as China's tourism recovery policy under the new situation of pandemic prevention and control, model innovation of rural tourism development under the rural revitalization strategy, and urban tourism innovation development under the background of cultural, business and tourism integration.

Our university did every part of the work carefully, patiently answered the questions raised by each student, and enthusiastically helped the students to meet various reasonable needs during the online training. The seminar was unanimously approved of by all participants. They expressed that the coordinator of the seminar provided warm and thoughtful services, and the training plan was designed scientifically and reasonably. Through the training, they increased their knowledge, inspired their thinking, and benefited a lot. Jorge Pagui Ortiz from Ecuador said that this seminar allowed them to see China's ambitious goals and ability of collaborative development.

The seminar started from July 18 and ended on July 29. 40 trainees from 7 countries, including Cuba, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Panama, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica participated in the 12 days training.
