At 8:00 a.m. Beijing time on September 30, 2022, an online exchange meeting between our university and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE)inBrazil was successfully held. He Ying, VicePresident of Shanghai Business School,attended the exchange meeting,which was hosted byChen Wei, ExecutiveViceDean of International Education College ofSBS.Guests attending the exchange meeting included Carol Leandro, Vice President ofUFPE, Roberto Guerra, Dean of the School of Innovation Studies ofUFPE, Madson Góis Diniz, Director of the International Relations Department ofUFPE, Liu Bin, Director of the International Exchange OfficeofSBS, Zhang Kaixuan, Deputy Director (in charge of work) of the Graduate DivisionofSBS, Dai Ying, ViceDean of International Education CollegeofSBS, and two trainee representatives of the Seminar on Regional Development and Planning for the Municipality of Recife, Brazil organized by the MOFCOM International Business Officials Training Base (Shanghai), Francisco Luiz dos Santos, Professor of UFRPE, and Giovani Savio de Andrade Oliveira, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office (Former) in Recife, Brazil.
Vice President He Ying delivered an opening speech on behalf of our university, introducing the development history, organization, scale, characteristics and achievements, and highlighting the internationalization of SBS from three aspects: student exchange, faculty exchange and research cooperation. She looked forward to the online exchange meeting withUFPEas an opportunity to further deepen the exchange and cooperation between the two universities.
Madson Góis Diniz, Director of the International Relations Department of UFPE, introduced the university’s organizational structure, development history, faculties and departments, the scale of teachers and students, and international exchanges and cooperation.Carol Leandro,Vice Presidentintroduced the number of graduate programs, types of programs, and international cooperation in graduate programs. ShesaidthatUFPEattaches great importance to foreign exchange and looks forward to cooperation in this field. Roberto Guerra, Dean of the School of Innovation Studies of UFPE, introduced the research situation of the innovation and entrepreneurship program and expressed his expectation of cooperation.
Focusing on student and teacher exchanges and research cooperation, our university responded to the proposals of UFPE to conduct exchanges on a semester or academic year basis, to enroll our students in UFPE's online courses, to conduct joint undergraduate and graduate studies, and to reserve places for graduate students of our university and other BRICS universities.
Two trainee representatives of the Seminar on Regional Development and Planning for the Municipality of Recife, Francisco Luiz dos Santos, Professor of UFRPE, and Giovani Savio de Andrade Oliveira, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office (Former) in Recife, Brazil, shared their ideas and suggestions on how to promote cooperation between universities in Brazil and China.
According to the representative, UFPE was established in 1827 and has three campuses with a history of nearly 200 years. The university has 13 schools including the School of Law, the School of Philosophy, and the School of Engineering. The university has 43,375 students, including 10,687 undergraduates and 12,697 master's and doctoral students. The university has 2,834 professors, 79.8% of whom have doctorates, and 4,184 administrative staff. The university has 105 undergraduate majors and 199 postgraduate majors; 90 master's degrees and 53 doctoral degrees.
The MOFCOM International Business Officials Training Base (Shanghai) of our university took the opportunity of holdingthe Seminar on Regional Development and Planning for the Municipality of Recife,andactively expanded exchanges and cooperation with Brazilian universities. On the basis of the successful online exchange meeting between our university, the University of Pernambuco and the Federal Agricultural University of Pernambuco in Brazil, this online exchange will continue to exert the spillover effect of foreign aid training and contribute to the international education cooperation and internationalization of the university.
